My diet mentality
Everyone has an opinion about how to eat, when to eat and what to eat. And I have found that the older I get the more fed up I get with all the conflicting opinions out there by “health” authorities. I have been utterly confused by everyone else's health opinions - read too many conflicting cherry picked science reports, listened to too many gurus, and spent way too long googling "health" to care anymore. The only person who determines what goes into my body, and why, is me. I eat when I am hungry, and I don't eat when I'm not. I eat desert when it's all I can think about and I stop before I am sick. And sometimes I don't. But that is ok - life is for living.
The point of this post is to drive home the idea that nobody should tell you how to eat. I share what works for me, but I am not here to point fingers at non-vegans out there. Some people work better on plants, others meat - we should all be respectful of each other’s needs and desires. I think what we can all agree on is that we should be eating less processed “food”. Anything that isn’t recognizable in its purest form as food, probably shouldn’t be eaten. Anything that can outlive you on the shelf, probably should be avoided also. And I think that if you choose to eat meat, make sure you know what kind of life your meat lived. Make the decision to support local farmers, and help to end the factory farm horrorshow.
